SCIENTER, a centre for Research and Innovation for training, was established in 1988 as a non-profit consortium organisation, which includes the University of Bologna among its shareholders. During its seventeen years of existence SCIENTER has become recognised as one of the leading European research centre in the field of Distance Learning carried out activities throughout European Community. SCIENTER’s study and research activity is combined with participation in pilot projects at local, regional, national and European level, and includes the provision of technical assistance to National Governments, the European Commission, Regional Administrations, Universities, Training Organizations and both private and public enterprises.
CampoRosso is a small company combining skills in educational technology and anthropology of communication. Its co-founders previously held posts in research institutes and universities in various European countries. CampoRosso stems from their dream to have a flexible structure that would allow them to develop research in the widest spectrum and with the least constraints possible. CampoRosso positions itself as a an analyst and a catalyst of social innovation processes, critically examining the conditions for generating true impact as a structural change in educational contexts and in society at large. The Centre of Information Society Technologies (CIST) is an interdisciplinary research and training institution of Sofia University, motivated by the challenge to support the development, introduction and wide use of Information Society Technologies (IST).
The main objective of the Centre is to create and establish fruitful co-operation between the University - the academic community and industry - SMEs, NGOs, public administration, local community, banking and financial institutions for co-ordinating the efforts in spreading the IST wide implementation and use.
The research concerns of Future Learning is in the area of educational innovation mediated by the use of ICT. The focus is in the understanding of the emerging educational/training trends in Europe. The research program of the group Future Learning aims at developing research in the educational, cultural and socio-economic aspects of the use of ICT in learning settings, with special emphasis on virtual learning and eLearning. Evaluation of the impact of ICT is also part of the programme. Future Learning promotes synergies with different disciplines in rethinking knowledge conceptions and knowledge production in the multidimensional spaces that define the European culture of the XXI century.
